Signing Ceremony for a Cooperation Agreement between Sela, the Association Semeurs d’Avenir, and the European Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD)
Under the auspices and in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Social Affairs, Dr. Hector Al-Hajjar, the Chief of Staff at the Ministry, Mr. Adel Al-Shabab, the Director of IECD Organization, Mr. Vianney Besse, the Director of Education at UNRWA in Sidon, Mr. Mahmoud Zidane, the head of NGOs Platform of Saida, Mr. Majed Hamto, and the directors and members of humanitarian organizations and civil society, Sela Association held a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement between it and the Association Semeurs d’Avenir and the European Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD).
The ceremony began with a speech by Sela's Executive Director, Mrs. Amal Hassan, welcoming His Excellency the Minister, Dr. Hector Al-Hajjar, his representative, Mr. Adel Al-Shabab, and the honorable audience. She announced the launch of training courses to empower women, enhance their societal role, and provide a supportive educational environment that enables women to acquire knowledge, build self-confidence, and effectively participate in social and economic life.
Mrs. Amal Hassan also spoke about Sela's most prominent economic and development achievements, including the 'Khoyout Factory' project, which trains women in fashion design and sewing to meet the requests of local and international orders. The 'Sustainable Development Kitchen – Themarouna' project also trains young women in culinary arts with professional chefs and trainers, enabling them to obtain decent job opportunities or create their own businesses.
At the end of her speech, Mrs. Amal Hassan thanked His Excellency the Minister for his presence and sponsorship of the ceremony. She also thanked the Association Semeurs d’Avenir and IECD, hoping this agreement would open up opportunities for empowering women and contributing to their development in various fields.
Mr. Vianney Besse, Director of IECD, welcomed the attendees and expressed his delight in the partnership between Association Semeurs d’Avenir, IECD, and the Sela Association, explaining that this partnership is a result of an initiative by the Ministry of Social Affairs, represented by His Excellency the Minister, Dr. Hector Al-Hajjar. He stressed that this partnership will add value in the future, including various cooking and sewing training with Sela. Mr. Besse emphasized the importance of vocational training for young people, creating job opportunities, enhancing social integration, and developing activities, especially in the South. Mr. Besse ended his speech by thanking the Ministry of Social Affairs, Sela, the attendees, and his crew.
The Minister of Social Affairs, Dr. Hector Al-Hajjar, spoke, expressing his happiness at meeting the Association Semeurs d’Avenir, Sela Association, UNRWA, and NGO Platform leaders. He pointed out that significant crises require different management and partners' support. He expressed his pride in being in the south, stressing that the reconstruction of Lebanon involves supporting women who play a central role in building the nation. He praised Sela's excellence and creativity, emphasizing that development and creativity are the way to enter this new world.
The ceremony ended with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Sela Association, Association Semeurs d’Avenir, and IECD, under the supervision of His Excellency the Minister of Social Affairs, Dr. Hector Al-Hajjar.
