Jinan University & Sela Organize an Awareness Event for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
In commemoration of World Breast Cancer Awareness Day, Sela Association, in collaboration with Jinan University – Saida Branch, took part in an awareness event titled “In the Pink of Hope.” The initiative was organized by the Departments of Nursing Sciences and Medical Laboratory Technology at the Faculty of Public Health, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and to promote a culture of prevention and public health.
The event featured remarks from Prof. Hala Saleh, Coordinator of the Nursing Sciences Department; Prof. Doaa Hadri, Coordinator of the Medical Laboratory Technology Department; and Dr. Osama Juradi, Faculty Member and Specialist in Hematology and Oncology. They discussed breast cancer risk factors, the importance of regular self-examination and screening, and emphasized how the event reflects the integration of health, science, knowledge, and humanity.
Ms. Nawal Ghazawi, a volunteer from Sela and a nutritionist and fitness coach, led a session on nutrition, physical activity, and the importance of maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
The event also included a moving personal testimony from Ms. Israa Halabi, who shared her journey with breast cancer and her path to recovery — highlighting how faith and hope empowered her to overcome the illness.
The activity concluded with enthusiastic participation from students and attendees, reaffirming the vital role of awareness initiatives in promoting health education and encouraging regular screening for early breast cancer detection.
