Sela Renovates 3 Houses
A house is a shelter and refuge for the whole family and a safe place to feel comfortable and overcome rough days.
Houses differ in construction, distribution and size of rooms according to their owners’ wealth. However, habitable places should at least consist of bedrooms, toilets, and a kitchen.
The horrible thing is that houses, consisting of just one room with neither a toilet nor a kitchen, exist!
We have witnessed that shocking scene in Barghalia, Tyre, during our tour with the delegation of Palestine Charity Committee- Kuwait, to check on the houses’ conditions.
We found a mother of 3 children living in one room with no furniture, kitchen and toilet. Moreover, she asks for access to her neighbors’ kitchen and bathroom when they have to.
How do they survive the cold winter!
The bitter reality of not having a breadwinner and access to fundamental human rights left the family in need and grief. The family dreamed of living in everyday life like others and having a proper, safe shelter.
Therefore, Sela took action in cooperation with Palestine Charity Committee- Kuwait and decided to build a kitchen and a toilet next to their room besides furnishing the house to help them live in dignity.
Sela renovated another two houses in both Saida and Tyre in 2017.
