The Opening of Themarona Kitchen

Sela held the opening of "Themarona," the Sustainable Development Kitchen, and 2nd strategic project in Saida funded by the International Islamic Charity Organization – Kuwait (IICO) under the patronage of Saida's mayor, Eng. Muhammad Al-Saudi and the presence of the Education Director at UNRWA, Mrs. Ebtisam Al-Khalaf, and directors of friendly and partner associations.
A kitchen that empowers women and ladies as they complete orders of various food.
Sela hosted the opening ceremony for the kitchen on Monday, February 20, 2023. The event started with a speech by Sela's Director, Mrs. Amal Hasan.
She mentioned in her speech the goodness of IICO in establishing & equipping the kitchen with everything needed to operate with high quality and standards. Moreover, she shed light on the kitchen's two dimensions of work, including hiring and training women to learn about oriental and western cooking, besides completing various orders and feats.
Amal ended her speech by presenting IICO's contributions to several of Sela's development, relief, and training projects and more. She also thanked the general director of IICO in Kuwait, Bader Al-Sumait, for funding Themarona Kitchen and Saida's mayor for sponsoring the ceremony.
After that, Eng. Sami Zain Al-Abidin, Director of the Projects Development Department, presented a speech on behalf of IICO.
He thanked the donators of IICO in Kuwait and Sela for their effort to establish Themarona Kitchen. In addition, he introduced IICO's humanitarian work, projects, and collaboration with Sela through various projects.
He also praised Sela's work and leadership in the Humanitarian field as he stressed the importance of such projects that serve women and society.
Next, Sela presented a video explaining Themarona's work.
The event included a charity segment titled "Reap Goodness."
The segment harvested donations from the audience to provide 200 families with hot meals cooked in the kitchen.
Last, the ceremony ended with a tour of the kitchen's facilities and a buffet full of various main courses and appetizers made by Themarona's cooks.
