The Grand Opening of Khoyout Factory

One of Sela's earliest achievements is opening its 1st development project, "Khoyout Factory," under the patronage of Saida's Mayor, Eng. Muhammad Al-Saudi, through a ceremony held in Saida's municipality on Friday, February 2. The ceremony included the graduation of "Sewing and Fashion Designing Course" trainees supervised by Ghiras for Society Development and funded by Kuwait Zakat House.

The Director of International Activities of Kuwait Zakat House, Mr. Adel Al-Jeri, attended the opening ceremony, the representative of the Minister of State for Women Affairs, Mrs. Randa Yassir, the Executive Director of Ghiras Association, Mr. Ziad Taqtaq and the representative of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Mrs. Hayam Abdul Nabi. Several schools (principals), charity, social organizations, religious centers and representatives from civil society institutions attended the ceremony.

In her speech, Mrs. Amal Hassan, Director of Sela, thanked Kuwait Zakat House for funding the factory and Ghiras Association for their supervision and follow-up. She also delivered Sela's mission (a pioneering woman and a safe childhood). Khoyout Factory opened to empower future mothers by training them and offering job opportunities. After that, Sela presented an introductory video that shows Sela's work through its various programs and activities.

Then, Mr. Adel Al-Jeri, Director of International Activities, delivered Kuwait Zakat House congratulatory word and expressed his happiness for establishing the factory. He thanked both Ghiras and Sela for their devotion. He also emphasized that such projects will help to empower women and support her family.

Mr. Ziad Taqtaq, Executive Director of Ghiras, also thanked Kuwait and Kuwait Zakat House for their sponsorship and Sela for their execution. Besides, he explained that society needs such projects to empower women. Then added, Ghiras has been and will always support and develop society through its projects and programs to connect the vulnerable families with the community.

The ceremony also included a speech by the representative of Saida's municipality welcoming the achievement that Sela had established in the city of Saida for the sake of supporting women and society. Then Mrs. Manar Muhammad, a mother of five children and a widow, presented a speech on behalf of the graduates. She thanked Sela and Khoyout Factory for the experiences that she has gained from the training to support her family.

Finally, Sela presented a video explaining the sections of Khoyout Factory and its accomplishments for the past year and a half, including the training. After that, trained kids walked the stage to do a fashion show for Khoyout factory's products. The audience clapped hard for that fashion show!

Sela closed the ceremony by honoring the presenters, graduates of Khoyout, and opening Khoyout's products display.
