04 Oct 2025

At the invitation of Sama for Development, and in collaboration with the Network of Civil Society Organizations, Sela Association took part in a meeting held in Saida that brought together a number of social and legal figures to discuss ways to promote the rights of working women and integrate gender-related issues into national policies.

Participants addressed the challenges faced by women in the labor market—particularly in the informal sector—and emphasized the need to expand social protection to include women workers and small business owners. They also called for the implementation of social security laws that guarantee maternity rights, family allowances, and health benefits. Additionally, the discussions highlighted the importance of launching training and awareness programs to strengthen knowledge of labor and union rights.

The meeting concluded with a set of recommendations calling for:
• Improving health and social services for women.
• Supporting economic empowerment programs for small and medium enterprises.
• Strengthening partnerships with labor unions and employers to ensure the sustainability of reforms.
