The importance of Education and School Dropout Danger

04 Oct 2019

The phenomenon of child labor is one of the most severe social issues that negatively affect children and society. It deprives the children of their fundamental rights and destroys their dreams of learning and having a better future.

There are many reasons behind this devastating phenomenon that keeps producing dire consequences and spreads nonstop in society.

Sela organized an awareness session for several women on Monday at the municipality of Saida, presented by Professor Jan Makhoul, Director of the Lana Al-Mustaqbal Association, an activist and trainer on child labor subject.

Prof. Makhoul explained the importance of education and the real danger child labor possesses. He emphasized that child labor affects children’s mental and physical health. He also presented methods that must be followed when dealing with children to find their reasons behind leaving school.

The awareness is part of Sela’s Save Me A Spark Campaign, which was launched at the beginning of August 2019, to help reduce the phenomenon of child labor and enroll dropout students in schools again.
