Volunteering is a necessity for the cohesion of the community

05 Dec 2020

In light of the human catastrophes that all humanity is experiencing, it was necessary for those of conscience and bright minds to provide a helping hand and assistance to everyone who needs "relief ... aid ... help", so that they reach safety as much as possible. The fifth of December came to be theGlobal Volunteering Day; to serve all groups and to place women and children on the ladder of volunteer work priorities.

Voluntary work is one of the finest works that resonates and works to develop, advance, and build societies, which is considered one of the noble human values.  The world celebrates every year on this day in honor of volunteer work and volunteers, and to support their role in achieving comprehensive development in their societies, in addition to encouraging giving and effective participation in societies and benefiting from the most important elements that everyone can volunteer in, which are time, effort, science, opinion and experience.

After volunteer work was limited to charitable work and providing aid, the base of volunteer work expanded, and this was linked to the needs of society, as many volunteer associations working in the fields of youth, women, children, the elderly and needy families extended their donations to multiple regions in the world.

In our time and in the light of difficult living conditions, volunteer work has become an integral part of being societies. It occupies a large aspect in the lives of most citizens and residents. Rather, it represents a method of work for some societies that place on the list of their priorities the spread and promotion of the culture of volunteering, and the expansion of voluntary services for most segments of society.

Owners of associations that are concerned with humanitarian and relief issues must promote the culture of volunteering, by strengthening relationships with officials and decision-makers, organizing conferences and events, urging the establishment of a volunteer work center, absorbing youth and women’s energies and providing needs that enhance their love for volunteering, by occupying their time for the benefit of themselves and their society. And their sense of their worth and their presence and influence, rather than becoming a dependency on society.

The basis for success is the creation of strong societies that give marginalized groups great importance, open their horizons, and seek to integrate them into society, reduce poverty, suffering and pain, and reduce crimes through volunteer work.

Voluntary work remains the basic building block that must be given great importance in planning and thinking of new mechanisms commensurate with the components of society and the societal changes that have made a difference in the structure of societies and the attempt to coordinate and organize by developing strategic plans, knowing the energies and innovations, and shedding light on the absent segments.

There are many institutions and associations that provide services and seek to help women, take their hand, and help them overcome crises and difficulties so that they do not need to reach out to others. There are many models that created themselves through volunteer work, so some institutions started their work by volunteering and grew their talents to make their way step by step. This is what the Women’s Association for the Care and Social networking "Sela" embodies. It was the main supporter for women because it believes that building societies is closely linked to women's successes, strength, and participation in society, so it supported her in all frameworks and trends through economic, social and developmental projects that it presented to her and her children to reduce the burdens on her shoulders and provide her with security and stability to live a decent life by providing the basic requirements for her and her family.

"Sela" aims to stimulate community participation and create policies that encourage volunteer work, contribute to the expansion of volunteer work, and recognize the importance of the role of volunteers in the development of their societies. In light of the human catastrophes that all humanity is experiencing, it was necessary for those of conscience and bright minds to provide a helping hand and assistance to everyone who needs "relief ... aid ... help", so that they reach safety as much as possible.
