Trainees' Graduation from The Art of Fashion Design and Sewing Training 2023
Under the patronage of the Minister of Social Affairs in the caretaker government, Dr. Hector Hajjar, the "Sela" association held a graduation ceremony for the trainees of “The Art of Fashion Design and Sewing” training at Khoyout Factory in Saida Municipality. Mr. Adel al-Shabab attended the ceremony on behalf of Dr. Hector Hajjar, Karim al-Baba on behalf of caretaker MP Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Bizri, and Mahmoud Zidan, Director of Education in Saida at UNRWA. The Director of Sela, Mrs. Amal Hassan, presented her speech and welcomed the attendees, followed by another speaker from the International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO)- Kuwait, presented by Mr. Muhammad Ramadan, Head of the Development Programs and Projects Department. Additionally, Mr. Adel al-Shabab, representative of the caretaker Minister of Social Affairs, presented a notable speech emphasizing the importance of support and sponsorship for women’s empowerment projects. The female trainees from “The Art of Fashion Design and Sewing” training also presented inspiring speeches. They participated in a traditional fashion show with Souad, a child who delivered an influential poem. The ceremony also included gifting flowers produced by the trainees and an exhibition showcasing their various products from the training course. Mrs. Hassan awarded the Minister of Social Affairs, Dr. Hector Al-Hajjar, represented by Mr. Adel al-Shabab, who thanked Sela for the past nine years of efforts in empowering women. Sela's effort was evident through the Khoyout Project, which enabled hundreds of women to acquire fashion design and sewing skills, ensuring sustainable job opportunities. Moreover, the sustainable development kitchen project “Themarouna” was also praised for its contribution to sustainable development, which opened on February 20, 2023, with generous funding from the IICO. He also admired Sela's hard and fruitful work and practical cooperation with the Ministry, emphasizing the importance of women’s empowerment projects and their vital role in society. Mr. al-Shabab also extended his deep appreciation to Kuwait and IICO for their generous funding of “Sela's” projects. Furthermore, he congratulated the trainees on their graduation and applauded the efforts of Sela and Khoyout in implementing the project, reflecting their commitment to ensuring a dignified life for women. In return, Sela presented a gift produced by Khoyout Factory to the minister's representative, expressing gratitude for his supportive presence at the event. Mr. Muhammad Ramadan, Head of the Programs and Projects Department at IICO, welcomed the representative of the Minister of Social Affairs, Sela Association, and the attendees. He then delivered the IICO greetings and condolences to Kuwait on the death of its Emir, Sheikh Nawaf alAhmad al-Sabah. He also stressed the project's importance in training women in sewing in cooperation between Sela and IICO. He congratulated Sela and the trainees, highlighting the importance of improving the living conditions for women in difficult times. At the end of his speech, he thanked the IICO for supporting this project and expressed appreciation for helping more than 80 countries with vocational training activities. He thanked the Sela Association for embracing female trainees and wished the trainees a bright future. The ceremony closed with congratulations to the 8th and 9th classes of The Art of Fashion Design and Sewing training graduates, wishing them a bright and prosperous future. Gratitude and thanks were expressed to the IICO for its generous support and trust in Sela, with appreciation to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Dr. Hector Al-Hajjar for sponsoring the graduation ceremony of 2023.
